LINSED: - LINSED is an erect, herb and cultivated for its oily seeds. Leaves of this tree are entire and narrow. Flowers are large, blue, violet and entire. Flowers are large, blue and pentamerous in terminal panicles. Stamens five and irregular with staminodes. Fruits capsular, with five cells, each containing two seeds. Seeds are yellowish small, flattened, and oval with smooth and shining seed coat and small albumen. Internally, it is used in habitual constipation, functional disorders of the colon resulting from the misuse of laxatives and irritable colon, as a demulcent preparation in gastritis and enteritis. |
